Job description

About CDI

The Constructive Dialogue Institute (CDI) is a non-profit dedicated to equipping the next generation of Americans with the skills to communicate and collaborate across lines of difference. We work with U.S. colleges and universities by providing curricular programming for students, professional development for faculty and staff, and strategic guidance to leadership. Our goal is to foster constructive dialogue at every level of the institution and to create the conditions for lasting organizational change. CDI was co-founded by psychologist Jonathan Haidt, the bestselling author of The Righteous Mind and The Anxious Generation.

CDI is at a pivotal moment of growth. In 2024, we more than doubled the number of partners we worked with, and we plan to double our reach again in 2025.

About the Role

CDI is embarking on an ambitious plan to expand and improve its offerings of online and in-person educational tools for universities, high schools, and workplaces. As part of the Content Team, the Curriculum Developer will play a critical role in this process. Reporting to the Senior Curriculum Manager, you will work collaboratively with the Content team and other CDI teams to design new trainings and programs, as well as revise existing CDI trainings and programs.

We are looking for a creative and fast-learning professional with deep knowledge of educational design principles, experience in dialogue and conflict resolution practices, and a knack for creating engaging content that empowers people to connect across differences. A successful candidate will be collaborative, innovative, and open to iteration. You will have the opportunity to work on multiple projects, flex your creative muscles, and have a significant social impact. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to facilitate virtual and in-person trainings for CDI partners.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with members of the Content and Research teams to design new learning resources such as eLearning modules, dialogue guides, activity lesson plans, instructional videos, and more.

  • Continually improve existing programs, trainings, and resources, including version management.

  • Collaborate with the Content team to design new workshops and trainings, including supporting materials, for higher education audiences (faculty, staff, students, and leadership).

  • Keep up-to-date with trends and research in psychology, teaching, curriculum development, and conflict resolution in order to continuously incorporate cutting edge ideas and best practices into our content.

  • Contribute to additional writing requests as needed, such as blog posts, white papers, articles, and marketing materials.
